Sara Buffamanti is a teacher, performer, director and mother living in Harlem, NY. She is currently the Head of Voice at LIU Post College and an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University. Additionally, she teaches at the Linklater Center for Voice and is a workshop facilitator for Columbia Global Projects working with the Obama Fellowship Scholars and Social Impact Fellows. Sara served as the Associate Director of Education, Artistic Director at of The New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts, with past faculty service at NYCDA, Columbia University, St. Francis College and LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts. Sara is an alumnus of UC Santa Barbara and Columbia University. She is a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher.
As a New York based actress, Sara’s work has been seen at the Metropolitan Opera, NYTW, The Public, BAM, PS 122, HERE Arts Center, Dixon Place, Bushwick Starr, Target Margin, Vortex Theater, Ontological Incubator Arts Project, Noor Theater and Queens Theater. She has performed internationally in Europe, Japan, Korea and throughout Southeast Asia and Europe. She is a former company member of the experimental NYC theatre ensemble Performance Lab 115 and an Artistic Producer and Head of Applied Practice for the Apothetae. Productions with the Apothetae include-The Penalty and Spirits of Another Sort.
Her professional practice includes directing, choreographing and vocal/movement support for productions at Barnard College, LaGuardia High School, Queen’s Theatre and the Springfield Shakespeare Festival. Additionally, she has served as a consultant for the Yale School of Drama, Juilliard and other institutions with a desire to integrate inclusive practices for disabled students into their existing training programs and infrastructures.
